Welcome! I’m Marta, a qualified designer dressmaker and seamstress. I make quality womenswear for every occasion and offer a garment copying, clothing alterations and repair service in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
Every service comes with a free, no-obligation, in-person consultation for up to one hour, during which you will have my full attention to understand your requirements or ideas and to discuss possible solutions.
This creative service is perfect for every woman who can’t find a satisfactory garment in the current Highstreet or online offering. If you are looking for a wedding dress, mother-of-the-bride/groom outfit, or an everyday garment that better suits your personality and needs, I may be able to help with a custom design and unique fabric.
Sooner or later, a time comes when your well-loved garment no longer looks its best. You’ve looked everywhere trying to find a replacement but could not find anything similar. This service aims to recreate your favourite garment as close to the original as possible using materials currently available on the UK market.
If you have a garment that doesn’t quite fit you, is too long, needs an extra pocket or sleeves, or you would like to improve it in some other way, please get in touch. I currently take on garments from light bridal, bridesmaid, occasion, and prom dresses to daywear outfits and light coats and jackets.
When your garment is still in good overall condition but it shows some wear and tear, why not check whether it can be repaired first. From lining replacement to tweed mending, I may be able to find a solution to prolong the life of your favourite garment.
Having had an enjoyable time in customer service roles for more than a decade, I made a career change into dressmaking in 2014. After a few years, I decided to pursue a professional qualification at York College University Centre, and in 2021, I was awarded the First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design and Production from York St. John University.
My student work was ‘Highly Commended’ by The Company of Cordwainers, and my graduation collection received the Merchant Tailors of York Fashion Graduate Award. Alongside experience in my own business, I also completed two internships with York’s bridal designer dressmakers.
