Terms and Conditions
LADIES’ BESPOKE GARMENT MAKING, GARMENT COPYING,
AND CLOTHING ALTERATIONS AND REPAIR SERVICE
These terms and conditions apply to all orders. Please read carefully through the information below.
1. General
1.1. This service is offered to you from my home sewing room in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, by appointment only.
1.2. I am available Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm. Appointments on other days and times may be possible but are not guaranteed. Please enquire.
1.3. I do not offer a next-day or rushed service.
1.4. Your garment brought for alteration, repair or copying service must be washed or dry-cleaned, or it will not be accepted. This does not apply to bridal and occasionwear garments that are new with tags.
1.5. Depending on the type, value and complexity of the order, a signed agreement may be required. The Contract (detailed terms and conditions and key information) will be provided as a hard copy for signing at my premises.
1.6. For the purpose of providing my service to you, I will contact you via phone call, text, or email, depending on the matter. Please see my Privacy Policy and Confidentiality Policy (Clause 9).
2. Consultation appointment
2.1. I offer a free, no-obligation, in-person consultation for up to one hour. This consultation is intended to assess the scope of work and costs required, and to offer you possible solutions.
2.2. I will prepare a quote for the cost of my work and an estimate for the cost of materials (where required) after our consultation appointment. The quote and estimate are valid for 14 days and do not reserve time for the work. Once you accept the quote and estimate, you will be booked for an appointment to place your order and have your first fitting.
2.3. Your consultation appointment for alteration service may change into a fitting appointment, if on the day you are ready to place your order and are prepared for measurements taking and fitting.
3. Appointments
3.1. Due to limited space and to ensure full focus, best results, and comfortable fittings, please attend alone; however, if the service is required for a child under 18, you (parent or guardian) shall be present at every appointment.
3.2. Fitting appointments are upon my request. You are kindly requested to respond to my message within two working days to book a mutually convenient appointment time.
4. Fittings
4.1. Your measurements will be required for most orders and taken by me. Work cannot commence without them. The garment will be made/altered according to the recorded measurements.
4.2. If you have any weight change, pregnancy plans, or health condition that may affect your measurements between fittings, please inform me before your measurements are taken to avoid the additional cost of redoing any work.
4.3. For most occasionwear, the underwear (bra type, stays, shapewear, etc.) and shoes (with your chosen heel height) that you intend to wear with your outfit shall be worn for every fitting appointment. For most designs, without these in place, the fitting may not go ahead and may have to be rescheduled.
4.4. You shall not wear any make-up, mark leaving cosmetics or jewellery to any fittings to avoid accidentally staining or snagging a garment. I shall not be liable to you for any staining or any damage to your garment(s) caused by you, or loss and costs resulting from you not following advised instructions.
4.5. There may be between one and three fittings for alterations, depending on the scope of work, complexity of design, and the type of garment. This number does not include the final fitting on collection. The number of fittings for bespoke and garment copying orders will be detailed in the signed agreement (Contract).
4.6. If any complaint or concern shall arise at any point in the making, fitting, or altering process, you shall communicate it immediately. Providing that this requirement has been fulfilled, if any complaint shall arise at the final fitting and collection appointment due to the quality of workmanship, proving fair, I will rectify it free of charge as soon as possible.
4.7. You shall attend a final fitting before collecting the garment. If you request to collect the garment without the final fitting, you will be required to sign a Certificate of Acceptance. After your order is collected, a request for additional fitting may incur a charge.
5. Photography
Photographs or videos shall not be taken without first obtaining my permission. Any photographs or videos taken by you shall be for private use only, and their use on the internet must be agreed with me in advance in writing.
6. Deposit, payment, charges, order collection
6.1. Payment is accepted in cash or by bank transfer in cleared funds, depending on the service required. Payment above £300 and payment for orders that require sourcing of materials shall be made via bank transfer. Currently, I do not offer debit or credit card payments.
6.2. Payment is required in two instalments: deposit and final payment. A deposit comprising of a) 50% of the quoted amount towards the cost of work and b) the full estimated amount towards the cost of materials (where required) shall be paid in full to commence the work. The work will not commence, and our agreement will terminate, if you fail to pay the deposit by due date.
6.3. Every effort is taken to make an estimate for the cost of materials as accurately as possible, but this cannot be guaranteed. The actual cost of all materials specifically sourced for or used in your order will be known upon the completion of the work.
6.4. Any request to make changes or for additional work made after an agreed quote shall be documented in writing and may incur additional charges calculated per each quarter of an hour commenced of additional work.
6.5. The final payment shall be paid in full upon Order Completion. The finished garment will not be released to you until fully paid for.
7. Refunds, returns, uncollected orders
7.1. There is no right to a return and/or to claim a refund outside of the statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You cannot return garment(s) or claim a refund for the service if you change your mind.
7.2. If an order, and any item you provided in relation to any order, including any personal item is not collected within three months from the day of Order Completion or agreement termination, I reserve the right to dispose of the goods in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.
8. Complaints
8.1. If any complaint shall arise after your order has been collected, it shall be communicated in writing outlining the problem in detail, sent to my email address provided on this website, and:
(a) the garment shall be brought back by you for inspection within 14 days from receiving your written complaint. A mutually convenient appointment time will be booked; or
(b) for any other complaints, my written response will be given within seven days.
9. Confidentiality and data protection
9.1. Either party shall keep in strict confidence all information that is of a confidential nature concerning our agreement and not use or disclose to any third party any non-public information obtained from the other party and/or that is marked Confidential Information.
9.2. Notwithstanding Clause 9.1 above, either party will be entitled to disclose confidential information relating to or belonging to the other party:

9.3. Either party will be entitled to disclose any information that is already in, or comes into, the public domain otherwise than through either party’s unauthorised disclosure.
9.4. You acknowledge that your personal information will be processed by and on behalf of me as part of my providing you with the service. I will process your personal information in accordance with my Privacy Policy.
10. Third Party Rights
A person who is not a party to our Agreement has no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of the Agreement.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
You and I irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with our agreement or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
